Control voltage circuits must be monitored for electrical safety; after all, an undetected electrical fault is as significant as unexpected system downtime and also significantly increases the fire risk. At the same time, unplanned service interventions can be expensive and time-consuming. Some power plant insurers also demand effective condition monitoring systems. All kinds of power plant use generators which convert mechanical energy into electrical energy. Therefore, operating them reliably is crucial for a functional energy supply. All insulation in electrical machines is subject to ageing processes. Permanent insulation monitoring can determine the condition of the insulation of your machine. This protects you from surprises. The contacting is either direct (stator) or via collector rings (rotor). Potential problems and risks can easily be recognised. For example, the excitation system is causing high levels of harmonics which generate incorrect readings in many conventional insulation measuring devices. An ISOMETER® from Bender considers these problems during insulation measurement.

De-energised loads

Ready for operation?

Continuous insulation monitoring of de-energised loads plays a decisive role in damage prevention. Crane systems, fire extinguisher pumps, pusher drives, etc. are often only used occasionally or in an emergency - but that is exactly when they need to work flawlessly. Bender offline ISOMETER®s permanently monitor de-energised systems, reporting insulation faults early and thus providing perfect protection against critical situations.

Voltage monitoring

Monitoring of three-phase AC systems

The VMD258 analog voltage relay monitors three phase AC systems for under and over voltages (window function) It’s internals are based on analog technology and omit the use of a microprocessor, which makes this relay suitable for nuclear and some demanding military applications. The auxiliary voltage supply can be derived from the system to be monitored. Both, system and supply are separated by a dual layer of insulation for additional internal safety and reliability. Special filter chokes dampen potential electronic noise stemming from the monitored power system. The response values for under and overvoltage and also for time response delays can be adjusted to varying levels.
