Marinas, yacht harbours

Moorings are often problematic in marinas. A central power supply feeds a large number of moorings, but there is no residual current monitoring for the individual moorings. This can lead to undetected fault currents being conducted from one boat through the water and damaging other boats in the process. Central shutdown via an RCD (fault current circuit breaker) means all moorings are de-energised, even if there is an electrical fault on one mooring only.
