Bender now offers three new modular residual current devices (MRCD) for industrial installations. The devices have been developed in accordance with DIN EN 60947-2 Annex M and can be used for protection purposes in industrial electrical installations where conventional residual current devices (RCDs) cannot be used.
Measure, alarm and protect in one device
The two residual current devices LINETRAXX® SmartDetect MRCDB425-D and LINETRAXX® SmartDetect MRCDB425-L are designed for measuring and monitoring all-current-sensitive residual currents in a frequency range up to 20 kHz (tripping characteristic type B/B+). With the LINETRAXX® SmartDetect MRCD410R, Bender now offers for the first time an MRCD for alternating and pulsed currents in a frequency range from 42 to 72 Hz (tripping characteristic type A).
All three devices trigger the circuit breaker without delay at a response value of 30 mA. A time delay can be set for response values >30 mA to 3 A. In addition, early warning thresholds for fault currents can be set in the devices. If the fault current reaches this threshold, the device triggers an alarm without switching off the monitored circuit.
Personal, fire and system protection for systems with high load currents
The devices are suitable for personal, fire and system protection in accordance with IEC 60364-4-41/-4-42/-4-43. They are intended for use in electrical installations where high voltages and high load currents occur and conventional residual current devices (RCDs) often cannot be used because they are either unsuitable for the application or prone to false tripping. Typical applications for MRCDs include welding systems, crane systems, industrial lifts, computer tomographs and DC charging stations.
The devices have a Modbus RTU interface for easy integration into existing electrical systems and monitoring systems. The parameters required for electrical systems are set either via Modbus RTU or via the NFC interface using the Bender Connect app (even when the power is off).
The MRCDB425 is available in two versions. The MRCDB425-L has several coloured LEDs that indicate the current status of the system. The MRCDB425-D has a high-resolution colour TFT display. Both versions can be operated with an operating voltage of AC/DC 100–240 V or DC 24 V via the built-in wide-range power supply.
